Tegucigalpa, January 10, 2012. One of the journalists who was attacked on December 13th by members of the President’s Honor Guard, today denounced the telephone intimidation to which she is being subjected and for which she places responsibility on the government’s security apparatus.
The complaint states that on January 6th she received a call from an unknown number in which a man said, “dog, we are going to kill you”.
On the same day at night she received another call in which male voices are heard and the sound of someone sliding the bolt back on a pistol is heard.
Pineda complained that she has received messages threatening to send her to the crematorium.
The complaint places responsibility for these acts on the security forces of the government for not applying justice and in the same way she holds the Government of Honduras responsible for not complying with the security measures previously ordered for her in order to protect her personal integrity and that of her family.
Istmania Pineda participated with a group of journalists, in the majority women, in a protest demanding justice for the assassination of at least 18 journalists and social communicators, which was savagely attacked by members of the Presidential Honor Guard, an action that was excused by the head of the regime, Porfirio Lobo.
