The Power of the People, Engine of the Resistance Build, Build... Popular Power

Many clashes have occurred throughout the past year in the streets of Honduras. On one side were the unarmed civilians and on the other side was the violence of the police and Honduran army, which only acts by the orders of the angry and violent oligarchy.

Many thought it was incomprehensible that after massacres and other forms of daily violence the people would still be in the streets shouting slogans and making their demands. The regime´s media tried to ruin this process by announcing that these people were paid for being on the streets. But this argument was unsustainable because there was no money to pay hundreds of thousands to be continuously in protest for 200 days.

For the golpistas (coup planners, executors and supporters) there was no logical explanation, because they only understand things in monetary terms; courage is not something they take into account.

The courage of the Honduran people is obtained from the objective that commonly is yelled on the streets “build, build… People Power”, meaning People Power as the democracy of all, which comes from the struggle and that today is built on the streets and in the fields.

This work has been assumed by the National Front of Popular Resistance, with the understanding that its main force is located in the great population that never has been organized before, whose first experience of direct political action was being on the streets confronting the golpistas. This process pushes the FNRP toward the re-foundation of the country. This feeling of popular indignation brought together the social movement with the people who had not been organized, becoming part of the National Front of Resistance Against the coup d'état.

In this moment the FNRP is a tool for building People Power with full political and ideological independence from political parties, religions and other organizations or people, and it is made up of popular movements, social organizations and political instances that search the social transformation of the country

The principal axes of struggle are:
a. The Political Formation as definitive factor of the building of participative democracy,
b. The Organization as definitive factor of the consolidation of forces at local, regional and national level,
c. The permanent Movilization in defense and protection of the rights of the people.

Structure

Because of the importance of the political formation of the people that are part of the Front, an organic structure of the FNRP has been created, which consists of:

a. Collectives of Resistance (neighborhoods, rural communities, popular organizations, social organizations)
b. the Municipal Assembly of the representatives of the collectives of resistance (executive body – Coordination of the Municipal Resistance)
c. the Departmental Assembly of Representatives of Municipal Resistance (executive body – Coordination of the Departmental Resistance)
d. the National Assembly of Representatives of Departmental Resistance including the representatives of the social and political forces (executive body – National Coordinating Committee)

The Collectives of Popular Resistance (CPR) are the basic unit of the FNRP that joins people (militants and followers) from all sectors building participative proposals from their concrete realities.

To guarantee the equal participation of all sectors of the population of the country without discrimination, the CPRs are organized through an assessment of the common necessities and interests of every community. Also by this, the autonomy of the objectives and principles of the FNRP is enabled.

The collective, together with other democratic and popular sectors, assumes the responsibility of working to build, take and exercise power; toward the National Constituent Assembly and the Re-foundation of Honduras.

Also within the CPRs spaces for the cultural, artistic and recreational expressions of the communities are provided, and with this the FNRP can attract more members and obtain the support of even more people in the Front´s activities.

For a more efficient structuring of each CPR, the number of participants per collective would be between 5 to 50 people. Also, every CPR meets weekly and follows a political education plan to achieve a better organic life.
