FNRP Leader Assassinated in San Pedro Sula

Jesus Octavio Pineda left his house in the La Pradera neighborhood at about 7pm supposedly because someone sent for him and a block away from the house he was attacked with gunfire by men who it is thought were riding in a white car. He died of 5 shots to the head.

He was a leader of the Democratic Unification Party (UD) until 2008 when he left the party because of corruption of the President of the UD and other of its leaders. He had been a candidate for alternate congressman with the organization. He supported the independent candidacy of Carlos H. Reyes who pulled out of the 2009 elections due because of the Coup d'e'tat.

Jesus Pineda immediately joined the resistance after the coup and participated in almost all the actions in San Pedro Sula and other cities. He was a founder of the National Front of Popular Resistance and a delegate for the province of Cortes in its first National Assembly on January 26, 2011. He participated actively in the LIBRE Party. He was a member of the political current, FRP. He was originally from Colon, he was 55 years old and leaves behind 2 sons and 2 daughters.
