El Progreso, Yoro. Two members of the Campesino Movement of San Manuel (MOCSAN) were remanded to the prison in El Progreso, Yoro after a hearing held in court in that locale. The judicial decision occurs as the campesinos carry out a tenacious struggle for the land against the sugar industry impresarios of Azúcar.

Charges of theft and illegal possession of a firearm were filed against the campesinos in court.
At 1:30 am on Friday, July 12 in the community of El Coowle in the jurisdiction of San Manuel in the province of Cortes, a group of police detained Densy Vilicio Torees Fuentes (20) and Diles Esaú Torres Romero (25) who were standing watch where there is an ongoing land recuperation.
Together with those campesinos the police also detained a minor who was freed by the authorities some hours later.

It is reported that the authorities found a weapon in the procession of the campesinos which they carried while watching the property that has been in their control since last April 17th.

It is worth noting that since the beginning of the land recuperation the campesinos have been the victims of defamation campaigns by the media that is always at the service of the groups in power in Honduras.

The campesino movement has characterized the decision by the court as unjust and announces that there will be actions aimed a demanding freedom for their colleagues.
